How to Get Involved with KASA: A Guide for First-Time Volunteers

kasakurdan@gmail.com April 15, 2026

The most common thing we hear from people who are thinking about volunteering with KASA is that they are not sure what they could offer. They are not professional social workers. They do not speak Kurdish. They do not know the community well. They wonder whether they would really be useful.

The answer is almost always yes. KASA’s volunteer needs are broad. The most immediate need is for people who can help with food distribution campaigns — packing packages, driving deliveries, coordinating logistics. This requires a car, some physical capacity, and a willingness to show up on a Saturday morning. No special skills required.

Beyond direct service, KASA needs people with professional skills who are willing to apply them pro bono: accountants, lawyers, graphic designers, web developers, educators, healthcare professionals. If you have a skill and you want to use it in service of something meaningful, we will find a use for it. The first step is reaching out through our contact page and telling us what you can offer and how much time you have. We will take it from there.
