Every year we write a version of this letter, and every year the hardest part is resisting the temptation to be vague. Vision statements are easy. Saying we will strengthen community bonds and expand our reach and deepen our impact — that costs nothing and promises nothing. So we are going to try to be specific.
This year, KASA is focused on three things. First, growing our language program to reach students in cities where we currently have little presence. Second, building the infrastructure for a more consistent humanitarian aid operation — one that does not depend on emergency fundraising every time a need arises. Third, investing in the next generation of KASA leadership, which means identifying young Kurdish Americans who want to be part of running this organization and giving them real responsibility.
None of this is possible without the community’s support. If you have been thinking about getting involved with KASA — as a volunteer, a donor, or simply a more active member — this is the year to do it. We are building something that will outlast all of us, and we need your help to get there.
