Planned Giving and Legacy Donations: Supporting KASA’s Long-Term Mission

kasakurdan@gmail.com May 10, 2026

Building a nonprofit that lasts beyond its founders requires resources that are not dependent on any single fundraising year. Planned giving — the inclusion of KASA in a will, trust, or estate plan — is one of the most significant ways a donor can ensure that the organization’s work continues long after they are gone.

We recognize that discussing planned giving asks people to think about their mortality, which is not most people’s favorite topic. We also recognize that for many Kurdish Americans, the concept of formal estate planning is culturally unfamiliar — wealth in many Kurdish families has been held and transferred in informal ways, not through legal instruments. KASA is not here to lecture anyone about estate planning. We are here to say that if you have already done it, or if you are doing it, including KASA is an option that we would be honored by.

Planned gifts of any size have an outsized impact on organizational stability. A modest bequest that funds one year of language instruction, or one annual food distribution campaign, ensures that the program continues regardless of what the fundraising environment looks like that year. If you would like to discuss planned giving options, reach out to KASA leadership directly. We are happy to have that conversation.
