KASA at Five Years: Reflecting on Our Growth and Impact

kasakurdan@gmail.com March 31, 2025

Five years is long enough to see whether an organization is real. In the early days of any nonprofit, there is a lot of energy and vision and not much infrastructure. The question is whether that energy gets channeled into something lasting — programs that run consistently, relationships that deepen, and a reputation in the community that makes people trust you when they need help.

Looking back at what KASA has built in five years, we see a language program that has served students across multiple states entirely online. We see a humanitarian aid operation that has distributed food packages, heating equipment, and emergency support to hundreds of families. We see a community events calendar that has brought Kurdish Americans together for Newroz celebrations, fundraisers, and cultural programming that would not have happened without us.

We also see what we have not yet done. There are communities we have not reached, programs we have not built, and families whose needs we are aware of but have not yet addressed. The next five years are about closing those gaps while protecting what is already working.
